🏛️ Part of my job as an MP is to scrutinise new laws and check that they'll work well for local people before they are put before Parliament.

🏥 I have been asked to join the Health Bill Committee, where I will help examine the clauses regarding the abolition of NHS England.

Last week, I spoke in the Committee about the changes I believe are needed in our NHS so that people in Bassetlaw see and feel real improvements like being able to get an appointment with the family doctor. More service delivery, less duplication.

Last week, I hosted DHL in Parliament for their annual summer reception.

🚛DHL is a global company, and it was brilliant to celebrate them and the contribution that they play to the UK Logistics Sector.

☀ I am also pleased that DHL will be hosting local young people to their Worksop warehouse next month as part of my Summer School programme.

Residents from the St Anne’s Estate came to speak with me at a recent coffee morning about their concerns around the removal of the post box at the corner of Meadow Road and St Anne’s Drive.

✉ To understand the impact for myself, I walked to the nearest alternative post box, and it took me more than 10 minutes. For many residents, particularly older people and those with mobility issues, that, alongside another 10 minute walk back, is simply too far.

🖊I have written to Royal Mail to raise these concerns and am calling for the original post box to be reinstated.

Looking back to my childhood years, there were five of us kids with not much money coming in, I see now the sacrifices my dad made to keep things going.

We couldn't afford a car and public transport was only for essential occasions, so he cycled miles in all weathers to work, he came up with all sorts of schemes to put more food on the table and it was always make do and mend rather than throw away and buy new (usually with copper wire and Blu Tack!).

My dad was always around until dementia took him away from us. He was the one who checked the oil and the tyres of my car, never saying no when I needed childcare for my children, who now have memories of many happy holidays that we shared both here and in his beloved France.

I love that we have a special day each year to say thank you and to remember those dads who have gone.

Happy Father's Day to all Dad's, the loved ones, the lost ones and the new ones!. Here's to many more 🥂
