Last year, the Government ended the historic injustice of the Mineworkers’ Pension Scheme and returned over a billion pounds to 112,000 former coal miners, but members of the British Coal Staff Superannuation Scheme were left out.

In January of this year, I was approached by a group of local BCSSS members, and in February, I held one of the first public meetings in the country for BCSSS members.

I’ve taken this case right to the top. I’ve been in contact with Rachel Reeves, Chancellor of the Exchequer. This impacts 706 people in Bassetlaw and I'm thrilled that in the Budget today, she announced that the investment reserve fund will be transferred to the BCSSS.

πŸš† For the first time since the β€˜90s, national rail fares are being frozen. That will mean savings for people across the country.

πŸ“ˆ Rail passengers have faced relentless fares hikes for years. Under the previous Government, fares rose by 60% between 2010 and 2024.

βœ… This is all part of the wider plan to rebuild Great British Railways, in public hands, and will will save commuters hundreds of pounds off their season tickets.
